InterGroup has maintained a long standing contractual agreement with the UPMC Health System and we are pleased to announce our newest addition to that contract, UPMC – East located in Monroeville Pennsylvania. As a reminder, under our contract with all of the UPMC Hospitals, including this most recent addition, payment is required within 30 days of receipt of a claim. This rule is applied regardless of who receives the claim first. In order for the PPO discount to be applied, there is no reference to clean claim and UPMC’s position has always been that nothing stops the 30 day clock, not even a stop loss claim. UPMC has always stated that audit’s are permitted but only after a claim has been paid timely and within the contractual limits and guidelines. Attached is a copy of the official UPMC Audit Policy that we were just given and wanted to make sure all of our clients received a copy. Also for your reference is a current list of UPMC hospitals affected by the 30 day rapid payment and audit policy. The only exception to the 30 day rapid payment language is Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh UPMC.
